鍛冶屋 : Kah-ji-ya
Hi! I'm Stephanie (Kaji) Oishi and I'm here to share the love of all things handmade. I was born in Honolulu, Hawai'i, where I am currently based, but grew up in Japan, where my family and I lived for 13 years. I've always loved crafting things with my hands and am an avid hobbyist. Aside from sewing, I like to dabble in a little watercolor painting, woodworking, soap making, just to name a few.. hehe
In 2018, I was very lucky to land a job as a seamstress at the Jana Lam Studio where I worked for 6+ years. Everything I know about producing handmade products is from my time working with the Jana Lam fam and I am so grateful for my time there. In January of 2025, I took the leap to pursue my own work as Kajiya and while there is still so much to learn about running my own business, I am excited to grow in this space and share my work with you all.
The meaning behind the name: 'Kajiya' is technically the Japanase term for blacksmith, which was my great grandfather's profession, but the character 'ya' simply means shop. So I welcome you to the Kaji Shop!
